The Limestone City Blues Festival will once again bring Downtown Kingston alive with the sounds of the blues August 27, 28, 29 & 30, 2015. Celebrating its 19th year, the festival is delighted to announce that Joe Louis Walker will be headlining the Springer Market Square Stage on Saturday, August 29, 2015. An electric blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer, NPR Music describes him as "Powerful, soul-stirring, fierce and gritty...a legendary boundary-pushing icon of modern blues." Walker was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013. Visit his website Opening the evening will be the reunited Kingston blues band, Blue Monday and multiple Maple Blues Awards 2015 winner, Canadian Steve Hill.
From working at Chicago’s Red Carpet Car Wash to appearing on national television, from gigging at the smallest ghetto blues bars to performing on the biggest international concert stages, master bluesman Lil’ Ed Williams has come a long way. Mixing smoking slide guitar boogles and raw-boned Chicago shuffles with the deepest slow-burners, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials ply their musical talents with skills that have been honed to a razor’s edge. Opening for them will be rising Toronto stars Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar. See them both Friday August 28th at 7pm on the Princess Street Stage.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, August 27th in Confederation Park with JW-Jones from Ottawa whose new album Belmont Boulevard has been receiving rave reviews. JW opened for the great Buddy Guy just last month and has had Dan Aykroyd say his group is “an amazing blues band.” NEW this year is a ticketed VIP event showcasing JW in an intimate performance before he hits the mainstage.
