Kenny Neal

If you want to experience the "Real Deal", take time out to find Kenny Neal. One of the strongest modern proponents of Baton Rouge swamp blues, Kenny Neal is a second generation southern Louisianan bluesman who is cognizant of the region's venerable blues tradition and imaginative enough to steer it in fresh directions. At age 13, Neal was playing in this father's band, and at 17, landed a job playing bass for Buddy Guy. His recent nominations and awards include a nomination for 2017 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album and wins are two 2017 Blues Music Awards, one for Best Contemporary Blues Album and the other for Best Contemporary Male Blues Artist which he won again at the 2019 awards. www.kennyneal.net

Danielle Nicole

Founding member, lead singer and bass player of Kansas City blues-rock band Trampled Under Foot, Danielle Nicole stepped out on her own in 2015 with her debut album Wolf Den. "I grew up playing the blues, and the blues is still a big part of what I do. But now I'm reaching out more and trying different things. It still sounds like me, but I'm stretching out a lot more than I have previously." Nicole's distinctive, inventive bass work - which resulted in her becoming the first woman to win the Blues Foundation's 2014 Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist Bass - is the product of years of intensive roadwork. Although she had no experience with the instrument when she became Trampled Under Foot's bassist, now she can't imagine life without it. www.daniellenicolemusic.com
