Featured Artist: Tonya Corkey

Be as nice as you are forever.
Being within the discourse of contemporary painting, craft and photography, Tonya Corkey’s work investigates an unavoidable aspect of human nature, the desire to seek memories.

Corkey selectively includes and excludes information from the photographs she references in her work. This provides an opportunity for the viewer to piece together a sense of story; mirroring the way images act as a tool or memento to recall the past. The medium - lint - is a byproduct of society; it is made up of dead skin, hair and other debris from our daily lives and rituals. These material qualities are reflected as a metaphor for decaying memory.

For Art After Dark, Corkey will present her work alongside a large-scale installation piece produced with the lint that makes up her intricate paintings.

14.UNDR for Men 68 Princess St

Featured Artist: Nazreen Mujib

Nazreen Mujib was born in Kerala, India where she first found her love of drawing by scribbling all over her grandmother's walls. She moved to Canada in 2014 and started selling art through commissions in high school. She now goes to Queen's University where she studies English Literature and Art History. Her inspirations include India, the rural Canadian landscape, animals, and women. She enjoys experimenting with new media constantly but lately she has taken a particular liking to creating art with paint pens. You can usually find her curled up on the couch with her cat, a good book, and a cup of tea.
