People of the Big Dig: Hannah from Phase 2

The DK! team went “digging” around in some of downtown Kingston’s most unique businesses to bring you the inside scoop on the front of staff you come face-to-face with every day. These employees are the backbone to the restaurants, shops, and services you rely on. Let’s dive right in and get to know “The People of the Big Dig!”

Hannah from Phase 2
353 Princess St.

Phase 2 has been offering high quality recycled clothing and a unique shopping environment since 1981. Whether you need everyday attire, an elaborate costume or a uniform for work, Phase 2 has it all. Each selection is handpicked, professionally cleaned and completely affordable. We stopped by and chatted with Hannah, a hardworking student, passionate runner and one of the many smiling faces that work at Phase 2.

What is your favourite thing about downtown Kingston?

My favourite thing about downtown Kingston has to be the events that happen every summer! They are lively and exciting and it’s great to see lots of people be part of them! I also love how downtown has so many unique places – there’s something for everyone!

What is your favourite product that you offer?

Definitely the costume section! Upstairs we have loads of fun and wacky clothes so you can dress-up year-round! Students also really love the Queen’s apparel that we have. School spirit is crazy in Kingston!

What is your background?

I was born and raised in Kingston, and I now attend Laurentian University in Sudbury, where I’m completing a degree in Forensic Science. I’ve been working at Phase 2 for three years and I love it! I’m part of the Varsity Track Team, so in my spare time, I love running down by the waterfront!

Do you play any musical instruments?

Yup! I love running, but I also make time for my other hobby: music! I play piano, clarinet and bass clarinet.

Favourite dessert?

Definitely cheesecake, no questions asked.

If you could see anyone perform at the Rogers K-Rock Centre, who would it be?

Queen. My parents went to see them with Adam Lambert as the lead last year and I really wish I could have gone with them! I’m also excited for the Bohemian Rhapsody documentary! But I think they would be amazing to see live.
