People of the Big Dig: Cyndy from Agent 99

What is your favourite thing about downtown Kingston?

My favourite thing about downtown is the never ending energy of people that enjoy it.  It's such a regional magnet for visitors and students but of course our locals keep it an authentic meeting place, especially with all of the indie businesses in the mix. Downtown really is the heart of our great city, and being able to be outside while walking and visiting with friends and family is what I love most.

What is your favourite product that you offer?

Things move pretty quickly in our fashion boutiques, and I bet you think I'm going to say the dresses of Agent 99, but it is in fact our exclusive clothing lines “Lola's Room" and "Dear Love" as well as our locally inspired products like our series of Kingston themed toques at Blueprint this past winter.  We are expanding into more items that will be unique to our stores.  That's what our customers seem to keep coming back for.  Our first edition Wolfe Island Toque is already a collectors item!

What’s your background?

I was born and raised in Kingston, and I guess I'm what is called an old stone.  I have photo albums of generations of my family living and working in our city.   We've been in business for 23 years and are raising two young girls who keep us busy.  We are so lucky to be able to travel extensively yet watch the kids grow up in Kingston.

For kicks, I have always been involved with the music scene.  I host a long running morning radio show on CFRC Queens University campus radio.  When I'm not working, raising kids, or enjoying life in Kingston with friends and family, you'll find me at a music festival, near the front of the stage.
