People of the Big Dig: Dave from Kingston Frameworks

If a picture is worth a thousand words then a framed picture must be worth a million!

(Dave, you should frame this one!)

Dave is the heart and soul at Kingston Frameworks! After starting his business many, many, years ago you can still catch him on the floor any given day helping customers preserve their favourite memories and amazing accomplishments!

We asked Dave to answer a few questions as part of our “People of the Big Dig” series!  Here’s a glimpse at the man behind one of downtown Kingston’s longest running businesses!

What is your background?

I was born and raised in Kingston!

I attended Queen’s and then opened Kingston Frameworks in 1982. I’ve been here ever since!

I enjoy golfing, curling, yoga and hanging with my dog!

What do you love about downtown?

I enjoy the diversity of downtown Kingston – its people, restaurants, businesses.

It’s a big city with a small town feel!

What is your favourite part of your job?

My favourite thing at work is to see the customer’s reaction when you show them their finished work of art and to see how special it is for them!

What movie did you most recently watch?

Caddy Shack – have to watch at least a little bit of it whenever I see it on... “at least I’ve got that going for me” (Bill Murray)

-- [DK] a true classic…too bad we can’t show it at Movies in the Square!

What is the most exciting thing that happened to you today?

got to fill out this questionnaire!

--  [DK] we’re flattered!

Star Wars or Trek?

Star Trek – “live long and prosper”

What is your favourite winter activity?

curling, while thinking of being on the golf course!

--  [DK] hurry hard, spring!

What is your favourite downtown restaurant?

Chez Piggy– a Kingston tradition - great spot on a cold winter’s night...

--  [DK] or a warm summer’s day – have you seen that patio?!

Stop in and say hi to Dave and his amazing crew!  On top of the amazing framing services they provide, Frameworks also features many amazing local artists and photographers!

If you’re having trouble finding the front door use their super secret side door on Montreal - it’s always open and they’re always happy to see you!

Thank you for helping us preserve our memories for over 30 years!
