People of the Big Dig: Fiancée Jewellers

If you’re ever in the need of a beautiful piece of jewellery, a new Pandora charm or a timeless watch (get it?), head over to Fiancée Jewellers- they have everything you need! Roula took the time to answer some questions about her life in and outside her store but volunteered her daughter, who will one day fill her shoes, to pose for the picture!

What is your back ground?

I was born and raised in Kingston. I’ve lived here most of my life. I attended St. Lawrence College where I took the 3 year Business program.  When I graduated I went to work in a jewellery manufacturing company in Toronto were I learned the jewellery business from the inside out.  I bought and imported diamonds from Antwerp, gold from Italy, pearls from Japan and precious and semi-precious stones from other parts of the world.

What do you do for fun?

Although I have very little free time I manage to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I love to cook and bake and most recently I have taken up painting which I have been enjoying very much.

What do you love about downtown Kingston?

I love Kingston.  It’s one of the most beautiful cities in Canada- only a few hours away from all 3 large centres. My favourite thing about downtown Kingston is that it has charisma and beautiful old world charm with great renovations to its buildings. The waterfront is breath taking from one end to the other. Taking a walk in our beautiful city is always a fun adventure.
