People of the Big Dig: Steve from Urban Outfitters

Steve might very well work in one of the coolest stores downtown! Urban Outfitters has it all! The latest fashions, home décor, jewellery …even a fully stocked record section!  Stop by and say hi to Steve and treat yourself to a new summer outfit… or two!

What is you favourite thing about downtown Kingston?

The feeling of community! Within the past year we've partnered with a few other downtown business (including Stone City Ales and The Small Batch Cafe) for in-store sale events, and made some great friends in the process! Some of our staff work at other downtown stores, restaurants & bars, and many of our customers also work downtown, so there is more of a sense of collaboration than competition.

What’s your favourite product/service that you offer?

Our sale section! We're the only Canadian Urban Outfitters store to have a massive surplus section on our second floor. We receive regular shipments of sale product from Toronto, Ottawa & Montreal stores, so you can always find something awesome for a low price!

What is your background?

I grew up in Pickering, but my wife, Cody, grew up in Kingston! We met while both living in Toronto and moved back to Kingston to start a family. I've been in Kingston (and at Urban Outfitters) for about four years, and love it so much! We now have two amazing daughters and we're here to stay!

Where did you go on your last vacation?

Ottawa for a weekend... and we couldn't wait to get back to Kingston!

Do you play a musical instrument?

I play a bit of guitar for fun! A few years ago, I played bass in a Toronto band called Big Stereo.

Favourite Netflix show?

House Of Cards, for sure!
